10/10/2011 – Flooding Prayers

Dear Fiends,

Thank you so much for your continued prayers. The danger seems to be over for us, but not the rest of the country. The river level has dropped, the water in the water treatment center around us is dropping, and the water is lessening around the church. The Lord has really blessed us and kept us from the danger. Thank you so much for your prayers. As a precaution, we are leaving our flood preparation in place until the raining stops. We are having rain at night still, but the days are very clear. Thank you so much for your prayers.

Those that are south of us are still in danger. Several areas are being evacuated and temporary shelters are being established. The low lying areas most likely will not drain off for several months. Much of that area is below sea level and hard to drain off. Bangkok is preparing to receive the waters that left us and the yearly tidal surges from the sea. They will need your prayers very much. Please be praying for the Thai people.

Yours for Thailand,
Richard Guay

10-9-2011: Flooding Prayers

Dear Fiends,

Thank you so much for your continued prayers. Please keep praying. We woke up to a bad storm this morning, but the rest of the day has been very clear and sunny. Even though it was so hot, the water is still right at our gate. It has gone down a little. The forecast is still calling for thunderstorms for the next two weeks. The river is at the same height. The neighborhood behind us is doing better.

The danger is not over until the rain stops. Please keep praying for us. Some of our church members still are without electricity and water is filling their first floor. The army is still moving people out of Ayutthai. The last retaining wall broke today and flooded an industrial sector. The damages are mounting greatly across the nation. Please keep praying for Thailand and the Thai people.

Yours for Thailand,
Richard Guay

10-8-2011: Flood Update – Pray!

Dear Fiends,

Thank you so much for your continued prayers. Please keep praying. I never thought that I would do it, but I canceled services for Sunday. The road to the church is completely flooded. There is a foot of water around most of the church. It would be dangerous for people to try to come here. Also, one family we pick up live in a very flooded area where the bridge is flooded. Another family said that their road is closed. Most of our town is dealing with flooding. So, we just encouraged everyone to stay home and pray for the country.

The dam is still releasing water as fast as it can, but water is coming to it faster. It is to capacity now and growing. Another dam in a different province is at 138% capacity and still holding. The water can not be released fast enough. The forecast is for rain the next three weeks! We need a miracle.

The river overflowed into our neighborhood down stream from us. The river is less than a meter from overflowing into the main city. Everyone is filling sandbags, making retaining walls, and doing anything else they can to stop the water. We now have the front of the house totally sandbagged (we only have 5 doors!). Our neighbors and landlord do not believe it can come in behind us since we have a large retaining wall. We are putting all the appliances in the highest area of the house on concrete blocks. We are doing the best we can and trusting the Lord to do the rest.

Many places are flooded much worse than Tak, especially Ayutthaya. Please continue to pray for Thailand and the Thai people.

Yours for Thailand,

10/7/2011 – Flood Pictures

Dear Friends,

Thanks again for your prayers. The Lord kept back the rains while we moved a majority of our stuff to the second floor storage room at the church. That room should not flood. While I am taking a breather, I thought I would upload some pictures as well. The pictures show the area around the church and our house. You would usually see a road around the water treatment pond, but it now looks like one large lake. We moved our best car to higher ground. The older car we are keeping at the house in case we have to flee with the kids. There is 4 inches of water on the road area. Therefore, we can drive on it. It is just hard to tell what is road!

Please pray for Thailand. A 10 kilometer stretch of highway in Ayutthaya was flood before and behind. Hundreds of cars were stranded there not able to pass the water. Over 200 road areas are under water and impassable. Millions without homes. Please pray for them.

10/7/2011 – Floods are continuing

Dear Fiends,

Thank you so much for your prayers. We will definitely flood. The road to our house has 3 inches of water on it. You can barely see the road. We are packing up stuff and putting it in the storage room at the church. It is a two-story building. The water should not reach it. Not sure what to do our appliances, but we are trying to get everything out of dangers way.

Since most of the houses near us are flooded, we think the government might be shutting off electricity. We will try to keep everyone informed as much as we can. Last report is that the water is still increasing north of us and should reach here in several hours. The rains are stopped right now, but will most likely resume.

Please keep praying for the Thai people. Over 2 million people are without homes. All travel to to Bangkok or to Chaingmai is stopped. We are caught in the middle.

10/6/2011 – Flood status around our house

We are expecting some water to come into our house today or tomorrow. The rain is still coming. The creeks and water treatment ponds all around us is almost full. Visited a friend nearby. They just cleared up from having two to three inches in their house. They have all the valuables on the second floor. Their biggest problem was snakes trying to get out of the water.

10/5/2011 – Flooding Report & Prayers

Dear Fiends,

Thank you so much for your prayers. By morning, the rains stopped, and it was a pretty day. The forecast is still for more rain, but the Lord has given us a reprieve right now. The river still has about a meter to the overflowing point (3 feet). Many rumors have gone around saying that they will cut the electricity city-wide, but it has not happened. They are cutting electricity to the houses on the river that are flooded already.

Our landlord came by today and said that it will flood here within the next few days. He felt it might get a few inches of water over the property and in the house. We have everything off the floor that we can. They are forecasting three more weeks of intense rain. Therefore, this threat will not be over for a while. The Lord knows and has a plan through it all. Pray for us to find a way to be a witness through all of this.

According to some of the news reports, in some of the flooded areas the water may not go down for 2 months. Really the flood risk for us is minimal, but many people in other areas have lost loved one, homes, and crops. Please pray for them.

Please be praying for us and the Thai people.

Yours for Thailand,
Richard Guay

Potential Flood Problem

Dear Fiends,

We just recieved word that the dam nearby will be releasing lots of water tonight. The dam is to its limit with more water coming from up country. The river here is already up to the brim. One report is expecting the city to flood tonight, but there is conflicting information. We do not know what will happen, but we are making plans for the worse. If the city floods, we could loose electricty. Therefore, we will not be able to communicate until everything is over.

This will also create more flooding downstream from us. Already, over 200 people have died from the flooding and landslides across the nation. There is also much more rain coming our way from the monsoons in the Philipine islands. Thousands are without homes right now.

Please be praying for us and the Thai people.

Yours for Thailand,
Richard Guay
